Personal Statement
I come from a family of six siblings including me and my loving parents. We are close to
each other, and we discuss everything that happens in the family. We grew up together in
Yemen until the War separated all of us. Some of them living in Yemen, and the others in
Saudi Arabia. My parents were strict and followed family values. My father played the role of
a strong religious person and a family man. We were respected and a role model for many
other families in my community. My father had big dreams for all of us: to have a better life
than him. He struggled to bring us up with a good education and always talked to us and
guided us to be better people in the world. He is my inspiration and the rezone that today I
am established and have achieved many many things in my life. I studied hard and inquired
a double Master's degree. My goal is to have a good career in law, to be a responsible
citizen, and to assist those who can't speak for them selves. I was inspired to pursue this goal
when I saw that shaped my country. My country Yemen is at war, and people are not able to
speak about their pain and bad treatment. The country is damaged. Our buildings fell apart,
and the best universities, homes, shops, museums, well known lands capes and cities have
been destroyed. I have to continue to follow my goals because of my father who struggled
for all of us. He is an example of being able to do anything in life and achieving goals. He
worked many jobs to ensure that we had the best education, so I had to prove this to my
father and all my family members. I struggled with the war but I continued to study and
managed to achieve two Master's degree. I made my father and all my family members
proud. The truth about the war never told in my country. We need people with good
education to write the story about these horrible wars that destroyed our names and make
the world mistrust the people of Yemen. One day I will write a book about Yemen and it
suffering. I am improving my English is certainly a start for now. My life story is unique
because I survived during the war in Yemen, and continued to study despite the difficulties
that I faced. We often did not have electricity, running water or food. Just like other war
countries, Yemen was one on the map, and the people struggle to survive. I had to make
decision to support my family and provide them with the basic needs. Life was not normal
and unimaginable at this stage, but I fought every minute to survive the difficult situation. I
wanted to do some thing different from the others. I wanted to be the voice of people who
had to choose between speaking out or death in my country. This influenced me to be
motivated and to move on. I left Yemen to make a difference for my family and for others to
feed them and provide shelter. My goal was to get job with the United Nation and to assist
my family financially. I work hard to be given an opportunity, sitting for tests and interviews.
I studied Day and night and was finally selected. I had many obstacles in my life at the
beginning, but with my father and my family's support was able to achieve my dreams to
study and improve my level of education. I was able to enrol myself in higher professional
studies and support my family in a war zone country.
